Maker and Workshops Projects
Most photography starts when a project is finished. The workshop gets cleaned up, the tools put away, and the focus shifts to the completed piece in its final setting.
I'm interested in what happens before that. The bench covered in shavings, the jigs built for a single joint, the grain of a piece of timber before it's been painted or finished. The evidence of how something is made rather than just what it looks like when it's done.
This kind of work suits businesses where the making is part of the story - craftspeople, furniture makers, framers, independent workshops where the process and the space are as much a part of the brand as the finished product. Photography that shows a client not just what you make, but that you know how to make it.
The Bath Framer
“It was a lovely experience having Gary in for a morning to do some, much needed, new photos. The results are utterly beautiful.”
PerfectSpace Carpentry
“We had a great experience with Copland Photography. Gary took some photographs of our carpentry workshop, for use on our website and social media platforms. We did little preparation but he still managed to take excellent images and videos of the team in action, doing what they do best. It was a very easy process and we would definitely use Gary again for capturing our future projects.”
